Description The full story Thaddeus the Fortress – Horauthin’s Favoured A bastard born of a noble’s love of bordellos, Thaddeus was given to the Church of the Tharameni once he was old enough to ween off his mother. The clergy found him slow to uptake reading or writing, often scrawling his words backwards, with them believing him to simply be dimwitted. Thus he was trained instead in the way of the sword and shield, to become a defender of faith, rather than a scribe or scholar. Indeed, it seemed in the sparring ring, Thaddeus excelled, growing to become a hulking mass of muscle and brawn as training became part of his everyday routine. Whilst he would eventually come to read in his own way, memorizing words by their shape, rather than letters, he was still bound to the ways of war. Horauthin became his patron, and he became Horauthin’s will, wielding mace, blade, hammer or axe in his name. His first battle was at Duskweave, and dozens more after came in the Liturium War as he fought against the heretical Leacianans, worshippers of the false Tharameni, Brinilmin. In all these wars, he has fought with a philosophy of leaping to action, and that tactics and strategy are for weaklings: the will of the divine alone has always led him to victory, not talking over paper and tables. So far, such militant faith has not steered him wrong. Now, the Church has had him moved to the land of Draksborne, aiding with the kingdom’s rebuilding in the wake of Dragonblight’s utter destruction of the land. It was here when he was in the city of Folkreach that news reached him of a new Blight festering in the village of Limlight. The Church has requested his immediate presence there, and Thaddeus has happily obliged.
