Erik of the Scarlett Road – Crossbow Knight
Description The full story Erik of the Scarlett Road – Crossbow Knight Erik was not always a Hedge Knight. Before Dragonblight eviscerated the kingdom of Draksborne two years ago, he was the lord of small manorship in the shadow of the Colos Mountains, rewarded to him as the prize of a tournament won in Canos. There he had his wife, children and a small collection of servants running what would become a profitable vineyard, and the centre of his family’s income. His noble heritage was meagre, and whilst he would never stand equal to lords whose fortunes might buy them entire townships, he was content with his lot in life. Until it was taken from him. Erik was in Canos when the outbreak struck. Trapped in quarantine in the untainted northern districts of the city, he provided what aid he could to the defenders, all whilst fighting the creeping thoughts in his mind of the fate his family would see. After three gruelling months, when the plague finally ended, he came to face it. His estate was little more than ash. As was his family. Looters had picked the rest of the estate clean, and there was naught left save for his suit of armour, locked in the armoury and unmarred by flame. There was naught left to do but travel the ravaged land of Draksborne, offering his services to those who might need it as the kingdom recovered.. He hoped in doing this, he may find a semblance of purpose once again, until he met his end, to be reunited with his family in Syelden. Now he finds himself face to face with the disease again, trapped in the village of Limlight after a new outbreak of Dragonblight has stricken the village. Either he will leave a hero, or walk into the afterlife to see his family once again.
