Clean the surface with a pressure washer (above 2000 psi recommended) to remove any dirt, grease, oil, or contaminants. Remove Residue: For loosely bound cement and efflorescence, use a diluted hydrochloric acid solution (9 parts water to 1 part acid) to etch the surface. Avoid letting the acid dry, and thoroughly rinse with fresh water using a garden hose. Drying: Allow the concrete to dry completely before applying the sealer. Any remaining moisture can cause the sealer to appear white and cloudy, affect adhesion, and lead to delamination. Application First Coat: Mix 70% Prime Exposure Coloured Sealer with 30% Prime Exposure Xylene. This helps the sealer penetrate the concrete pores and bond effectively. Apply with a roller, ensuring an even coat without pooling. Drying Time: Wait a minimum of 1 hour between coats (depending on weather). For best results, wait 3-4 hours for the resin to harden before applying the second coat. Second Coat: Apply the second coat undiluted, using a Viton Seal Spray Unit or roller. Typically, one diluted coat and two undiluted coats are recommended for optimal results. Anti-Slip Option: For surfaces prone to slipping, ask your Prime Exposure stockist for Anti-Slip beads. Curing Time: Avoid driving on the sealed surface for 3-4 days to allow the resin to fully harden. Resealing Surface Prep: Follow the same surface preparation steps as above. Once the surface is dry, apply a coat of Prime Exposure Xylene to reactivate any existing sealer and enhance penetration.
